Chapter 10: Confessions & A Plan for Revenge. Romance Thriller Web Novel "I Love You Even More" by Abrar Nayeem Chowdhury
Jeff had texted him earlier about a new adventure spot—a secluded hiking trail just outside Seoul. Excited, Akib made his way toward the Arts Faculty to catch up with him. The building had a completely different atmosphere from his own faculty—ornate architecture, warm wooden corridors, and students engaged in lively philosophical debates.
As Akib entered, his gaze landed on a scene that made his steps slow.
Across the hall, Samantha stood with William and Professor Daniel Lee from the Arts Faculty. Their conversation seemed professional—until William casually placed his hand on Samantha’s arm.
For a brief moment, Samantha froze. Then, with a polite but firm movement, she pulled her hand away. She smiled, but Akib could see the strain behind it. It was the same kind of forced politeness one used when stuck in an awkward situation with someone they didn’t want to offend.
"Anyway, as I was saying, Professor Lee," Samantha continued, trying to steer the conversation forward, "the students are really excited about the upcoming literature festival. We’ve planned—"
"Oh, I’m sure they are," William interrupted, smirking slightly. His eyes flickered back toward Samantha as if he hadn’t just overstepped boundaries.
Akib clenched his jaw.
The incident at the restaurant flashed in his mind—William’s jealousy, his condescending remarks, and the way he had insulted him in front of Samantha. And now, here he was again, pushing limits, trying to act like he had some claim over her.
Akib knew exactly what was happening. William was trying to assert dominance, testing how far he could go.
Samantha wasn’t speaking up, likely because she didn’t want to create a scene in front of Professor Lee, but her body language said it all—the slight shift in posture, the controlled expression masking her discomfort.
Akib’s hands curled into fists at his sides, but he exhaled, forcing himself to think instead of react.
"No, not here. Not now," he muttered under his breath. "Revenge should be served cold."
With a determined look, he turned on his heels and strode toward Jeff’s classroom.
Inside, Jeff was leaning against a desk, flipping through a travel magazine. His blond curls were slightly messy, and he looked up the moment Akib entered.
"Hey, man! You finally made it."
Akib nodded, but his mind was still half-occupied.
"So, about this adventure spot," he started, but Jeff immediately picked up on his tone.
"Whoa, hold up. You look like you just saw someone steal your last piece of sushi. What's up?"
Akib exhaled sharply and sat down beside him. "William."
Jeff frowned. "What did he do this time?"
Akib leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "He was getting way too comfortable with Samantha in front of Professor Lee. I don’t know what’s worse—his arrogance or the fact that she was forced to smile through it."
Jeff let out a low whistle. "Damn. And you just stood there?"
Akib shot him a glare. "Of course not. I saw everything, and now I’m thinking about how to take my revenge on him."
Jeff asked Akib, "Revenge? Because of this?..."
Jeff replied, "No..Because I love Samantha."
Jeff’s eyes widened. "Whoa, hold up. You what?"
Akib gave a small smile, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah. I love her."
Jeff let out a low whistle. "Damn, man. That’s… unexpected." He folded his arms. "Look, I get that William is an arrogant jerk, but you realize this is risky, right? She’s a university staff member, a senior, and she’s older than you."
Akib chuckled. "Relax, Jeff. I’m not stupid. I haven’t told her anything, and I won’t say a word to anyone at the university. Unless, of course, you decide to spill the secret."
Jeff smirked. "Please. I’m not a gossip." Then his face turned serious. "But are you sure about this? You don’t even know if she feels the same way."
Akib sighed. "That’s true. I don’t know… but I do know one thing—William is trying to overstep his boundaries with her, and I can’t stand it."
Jeff leaned back against the desk. "Alright, but think about this—William is a professor. If you do something reckless in university, it could backfire on you."
Akib nodded. "I know. That’s why I have to be smart about it."
Jeff studied him for a moment. "Okay, but tell me something first—what’s the real reason for this revenge? Did something else happen between you three?"
Akib exhaled and crossed his arms. "Yeah. There was this restaurant incident. William humiliated me, insulted me like I was nothing, but Samantha defended me. She stood up for me."
Jeff’s eyes widened in amusement. "Wait a second. You two went to a restaurant together?"
Akib smirked but didn’t say anything.
Jeff grinned. "Oh, this is getting interesting. That’s a good sign, bro. Maybe she does have feelings for you."
Then Jeff’s expression turned thoughtful. "But… she’s older than you."
Akib raised an eyebrow. "So what?"
Jeff shrugged. "I don’t know, man. Some people think age matters."
Akib leaned forward, his voice calm but firm. "Tell me, Jeff—if a woman marries a man younger than her, will she not treat him as her husband?"
Jeff thought for a moment. "Well, yeah, of course, she would."
Akib smiled. "Exactly. Then, if a woman marries a man older than her, she will treat him the same way, won’t she?"
Jeff nodded slowly.
Akib continued, "In marriage, age doesn’t matter. What matters is understanding, mutual respect, care, love, and support. Every married couple faces arguments, conflicts, and problems. If I marry an older woman, I will face arguments. If I marry a younger woman, I will face arguments, too. Problems exist in every marriage, regardless of age. The key is how we handle them."
Jeff let out a small laugh. "Man, you should be a philosopher."
Akib smirked. "I’m just being realistic."
Jeff sighed. "Fine. I get it. But what about your parents? Will they agree?"
Akib’s expression turned serious. "Jeff, love isn’t just about parental approval. There are two kinds of decisions in life—self-decisions and parental decisions. Some people let their parents decide everything for them, including whom they should love. But love is a self-decision. It’s about what you feel, not what others approve of. Parents should guide, not control. And if you truly love someone, you fight for them."
Jeff stared at him for a moment, then shook his head with a smile. "Damn, bro. You really believe that, huh?"
Akib nodded. "With all my heart."
Jeff chuckled. "Alright. I’ll help you with this revenge plan."
Akib grinned. "Good. Because it’s time for William to learn a lesson."
Jeff smirked. "This is gonna be fun."
