Chapter 11: The Unfortunate Fate of William’s Trousers. The Romance Thriller Web Novel "I Love You Even More" by Abrar Nayeem Chowdhury
Chapter 11: The Unfortunate Fate of William’s Trousers
The plan was hatched over cups of lukewarm coffee and suppressed laughter, for no great plot is born without the accompaniment of mirth.
Akib and Jeff sat in a shaded corner of the canteen, their faces alight with mischief.
"Are we truly doing this?" Jeff inquired, leaning forward, his voice tinged with both curiosity and anticipation.
Akib smirked. "Unless you have suddenly developed a fondness for William?"
Jeff shuddered. "Heavens, no. But I must confess, I have never been an accomplice in an act of academic rebellion before."
Akib chuckled. "Then consider this a lesson in practical mischief, my friend. Now, let us revise the plan once more."
Jeff exhaled dramatically. "Very well. I shall summon the villain from his fortress—"
"—His office," Akib corrected.
"Fortress, office—both are prisons of the intellect. I shall invite him outside for a conversation most serious, and while I keep him ensnared in pointless dialogue, you—"
"—Shall swiftly enter his chamber of arrogance and administer justice in the form of an adhesive predicament," Akib finished, his grin widening.
Jeff nodded solemnly. "May fortune favor the bold."
Thus, the stage was set.
Jeff approached William’s office with an air of urgency, rapping on the door with just the right amount of impatience.
William, his ego ever inflated to the size of an overfilled balloon, opened the door with a frown.
"What is it, Jeff?" he demanded, clearly displeased to be interrupted from whatever self-important musings occupied his mind.
Jeff assumed an expression of grave concern. "Sir, might I trouble you for a private word? It is… of utmost importance."
William straightened his tie, feeling quite dignified at being consulted in so secretive a manner. "Very well. Walk with me."
As Jeff led him down the corridor, he began an elaborate monologue about hypothetical university policies, fabricated student complaints, and the questionable ethics of cafeteria pricing, ensuring that William remained thoroughly and irrevocably engaged.
Meanwhile, Akib darted into the now-abandoned office with the stealth of a practiced rogue.
He moved with calculated precision, retrieving from his pocket a vial of superglue, the very elixir of his vengeance.
With the care of an artist at his canvas, he applied a generous layer upon William’s chair, ensuring that the entire seat was ensnared in its wicked embrace.
His task complete, Akib departed as swiftly as he had arrived, disappearing down the hall just as Jeff, having exhausted his arsenal of fabricated concerns, released William from his verbal captivity.
William returned to his office, none the wiser.
Seating himself in his grand chair, he sighed with the satisfaction of a man who believes himself indispensable.
Minutes passed.
Then, with the grace of an unknowing fool, he attempted to rise—only to discover his complete and utter immobility.
A look of confusion crossed his face, swiftly followed by horror.
He struggled, twisted, and pulled, but the superglue held firm, an unyielding force of nature.
In his desperation, he applied greater strength, which proved to be his undoing—for with a most dreadful tearing sound, his trousers succumbed to their unfortunate fate.
At that very moment, the office clerk entered.
The clerk, a man of great mirth and little decorum, surveyed the disheveled state of William and, in a tone filled with barely contained laughter, remarked:
"Ah, Professor William! Quite the new fashion statement, I see. Were your trousers simply too restricting for your philosophical ponderings?"
William, red-faced and furious, could only glare.
The clerk, unwilling to let such a spectacle go uncelebrated, departed at once—not to the Vice Chancellor’s office, but to the canteen, where he regaled a gathering of senior students with the tale.
Laughter erupted.
Amongst the amused audience stood Akib and Jeff, the architects of William’s downfall.
They exchanged a glance, and then—the victory laugh.
By afternoon, William could bear the humiliation no longer.
He waited until all other professors had departed, wrapped himself in a long coat, and slipped out of the university unnoticed, stepping into his car with an air of wounded dignity.
As he sat in the driver’s seat, his mind raced.
"Who did this?"
Jeff’s name lingered in his mind, but Jeff had been with him the entire time.
Could it have been another teacher? Or perhaps—a student?
His gaze drifted toward the security cameras.
Should he check them?
Meanwhile, Akib had returned home earlier than usual.
With three hours left before his part-time job, he indulged in the simple luxury of a long bath, allowing himself to revel in the triumph of the day.
Freshly attired, he settled at his desk, his diary open before him.
He picked up his pen and, with slow, deliberate strokes, wrote a single name:
SAMANTHA.
The ink bled into the page, sealing his unspoken confession.
